First Concept for Installation and Soapstone

For my early design ideas I have been looking the work and inspiration behind

Theo Jansen (Super crazy in the best way)

Tom Otterness (I hope to be as cool as him when I grow up)
http://www.tomostudio.com/exhibitions_subway.html

Joel Shapiro (Anthropomorphism at its best)
http://www.lalouver.com/html/shapiro_08.html

Also from an installation piece in the The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in  Japan, Tokyo, Odaiba.

So far the rough idea is to create a kinetic sculpture that in powered by the wind of people walking through the space... or possibly a small fan and pump system. Ideally a set of stick figure "body parts" will hang suspended and with different alignments produce different scenes. Possible Title "Your Dirty Mind"?

  1. We talked about the difficulty of large mechanisms, but I love the idea of kinetic movement. My advice: think simple.

Sites like this can be useful. Take the mechanism and change the outliers to your aesthetic and conceptual purpose.
